FUJIFILM Instax Undisputed Breaking World Championship Takes Cape Town by Storm

When it comes to finding the most electrifying ways to play in Cape Town, the FUJIFILM Instax Undisputed Breaking World Championship belongs near the top of the list. On the 6th of December 2025, the V&A Waterfront amphitheatre became the stage for one of the most intense breaking competitions the Mother City has ever seen.

Cape Town served as the fourth qualifier on the global circuit — which includes stops in Tokyo, New York, London, Paris and LA — with winners of the Men’s Solo, Women’s Solo and 5v5 Crews battles earning a place at the Tokyo World Final in March 2026.

Perennial Cape Town favourite DJ Grandmaster Ready D supplied the soundtrack, joined by DJ Nobunaga (Netherlands), DJ Eazy (RSA) and DJ Azuhl (RSA). MCs Mario Bee (Netherlands) and MC Mel kept the crowd primed from start to finish.

The result was exactly what a world-class breaking event demands — a highly receptive Cape Town crowd, relentless energy on the floor, and a competitive atmosphere that brought out the best in every athlete present.

The Battles That Defined the Day

In the Men’s Solo, b-boy Hiro10 (Japan) delivered a commanding 3-0 victory over Gravity (USA) to claim the title. African b-boys The Curse, Bashi, Toufeeq and Shady all made the top eight, underlining South Africa’s genuine depth in the sport.

Three-time world champion India (Netherlands) was equally dominant in the Women’s Solo, first defeating b-girl Karla 2-0 before edging b-girl Stefani from Ukraine to take the crown. Her technical brilliance and relentless determination confirmed why she remains one of the best in the world.

In the 5v5 Crews battle, local crew CPT Elite (RSA) fought their way to the semi-final before falling to Breaknation, who went on to win the final. South Africa still had cause to celebrate — 4x SA champion Toufeeq is part of Breaknation, and will represent the continent in Tokyo. “I feel really good. I’m so inspired to go to Japan, and so happy to be part of this crew,” he said.

Play in Cape Town — Now a Permanent Stop on the Global Circuit

Beyond the results, the biggest news for the city came from Tyrone van den Meer, Project Lead of FUJIFILM Instax Undisputed, who confirmed that Cape Town will now be a regular fixture on the event calendar going forward. For a city that has long nurtured a vibrant breaking and Hip Hop culture, it is well-deserved recognition on the world stage.
