Cape Town’s Ocean Wonder Awaits

Nestled in the bustling V&A Waterfront, the Two Oceans Aquarium has been Cape Town’s blue heart since 1995. Here, countless visitors have forged precious family memories, breathed underwater with our PADI Dive School, and learned something new about their favourite sea animal.

But dive deeper into the Aquarium and discover the steady pulse of activity beyond its magnificent exhibits.

EXPLORE

Along South Africa’s west coast lies the cold Atlantic Ocean, where shimmering silver fish dart amid the kelp forests. The warm Indian Ocean stretches along the east coast, where the reefs are vibrant and teeming with life. Placed where these oceans meet, the Two Oceans Aquarium offers biodiversity at its best.

Most Cape Town locals are familiar with this one-of-a-kind experience: In a day, you can meet outrageously cute penguins, an enigmatic octopus, a shiver of magnificent ragged-tooth sharks, and more!

The appeal of the Aquarium transcends observation, inviting visitors to deepen their connections with the ocean. Conservation and marine education are the golden threads running through every aspect of the Aquarium experience – visitors leave with cherished memories, an appreciation for the ocean as a life force, and a compelling call to action.

EXPERIENCE

Connection is the first step to creating a brighter future for our ocean. At the Two Oceans Aquarium, experiences generate that connection. A hands-on touch pool gives kids a chance to meet an anemone or touch a slithery piece of kelp, while a dedicated children’s play centre boasts interactive crafts and daily puppet shows. Along with daily presentations and feeding time talks, connection with the ocean is encouraged from a young age.

Hidden away on the rooftop of the Two Oceans Aquarium, a Five-Star PADI Dive Centre opens the door to unique and exciting scuba and freediving courses. This is just one of many ways visitors can experience the Aquarium beyond a standard visit.

The Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation, founded in 2018, has reached hundreds of thousands of children through its Ocean Campus – educational offerings with the ocean at heart. Ocean Campus includes two immersive classrooms (equipped with mini aquariums) for school group lessons, mobile outreach vehicles that take sustainability and marine life to under-resourced schools, online courses, and more!

ENGAGE

Whatever experience you choose at the Two Oceans Aquarium, a portion of your ticket always supports the non-profit conservation, education, and research work at the Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation.

Since its inception, the Foundation has firmly established itself as a leader in ocean literacy, turtle rehabilitation, and marine wildlife management – grown from the Aquarium’s vision. Both the Aquarium and its Foundation believe that a single action, however small, can create ripples of change towards a healthier ocean.

The Trash Bash beach clean-up initiative is one such action – twice monthly, the mornings provide a chance for the public to contribute towards the health and well-being of our ocean while engaging with like-minded individuals.

Joining this ocean community is easy: Throughout the year, the Two Oceans Aquarium offers opportunities for education, networking, and ocean-themed fun for the entire family. Through events such as speaker nights, sleepovers, musical performances, and more, the ocean community unites at the Aquarium!

The Aquarium is designed to create lasting love and positive behaviour change for a generation that will protect our precious ocean. Whenever you purchase a ticket to the Two Oceans Aquarium, you are making an invaluable contribution to our ocean health.

We live on a blue planet: The world’s oceans cover 97% of the Earth, sustaining life in incredible ways. But this beautiful blue expanse needs our help to survive. Explore and be astounded (then make a small step towards a brighter, bluer future)!
