In Cape Town
One of the best spots to view Table Mountain from afar. If you head out along Table Bay in Cape Town, one of the last spots you will find before leaving Cape Town is Blouberg. This Seaside area is well known for Kite surfing and great local beaches.
There are some great restaurants and bars found along the beach, and this place offers a much more chilled out approach to life than the city. This area also has a history of fighting, with the British taking Cape Town for a second time in 1806 on the beach of Blouberg from the Dutch at the time.
Blaauwberg Hill & Cape Fynbos
One of the most eye-catching parts of the area is the fantastic conservation areas that have been created around the suburb. The Blaauwberg hill conservation area is home to many unique plants to the Cape, called Fynbos. Fynbos is a type of plant that is only found in Cape Town, and forms part of one of only 6 Floral Kingdoms around the World, called the Cape Floral Kingdom. Areas like this make the suburb stand out, and is its unique selling point. Any Fauna fans heading to Cape Town should make a stop here.

Kite surfing has become a phenomenon around the World, and there’s no place it’s taken stronger than in Cape Town. Blouberg is home to so many kites in summer, its basically impossible to distinguish one from another. No wonder its called “Kite Beach” today. This area also calls home to the “Red Bull King Of The Air” competition every year, this is one of the biggest kiting competitions in the World, and brings World famous Kiters to this beautiful part of Cape Town annually. Even if you don’t have your own kite, head down and hire one with an instructor if you want.

Directly translated, this means, “Blue Mountain Beach”. This beach offers a unique view of Table Mountain, while still being able to enjoy all the frills that a beach has to offer. From Kite surfing to beach fishing, there’s a fantastic mix of things to do with great bars dotted along the beachside.
