Time Out Market Cape Town Brings the Best of the City Together
Time Out Market Cape Town brings the best of the city together under one roof. Located at the V&A Waterfront, the food and cultural market is home to award-winning chefs, much-loved local gems and rising home-grown talent, all in one vibrant shared space.
As the first Time Out Market on the African continent, it blends food, drinks, music, culture and creativity into an experience that feels unmistakably Cape Town. Guests gather around communal tables while some of the city’s top chefs and their teams work in full view, with Table Mountain adding to the atmosphere from the heart of the Waterfront.
A Food Market That Captures Cape Town’s Flavour
This 27,000 sq ft destination is home to 13 kitchens, three bars, a dedicated wine bar and a stage for cultural experiences. The result is a curated mix of some of Cape Town’s best food and drink, all designed to reflect the character and creativity of the city.
The Market’s food line-up includes a wide variety of local and global flavours. Barakat brings a fresh take on Cape Malay cuisine, CARNE celebrates Italian simplicity, and De Vrije Burger serves Bertus Basson’s well-known burger concept. There is also Asian-inspired street food from How Bao Now, contemporary Indian street food at Kapoochka, ramen from Ramenhead, sushi from Sushiya, seafood from The Melting Pot, and South African deli favourites from The Siba Deli.
Visitors can also stop by Una Más Taqueria, Unframed Ice Cream and YARD, while Cultivar Wine Bar offers a curated selection of South African wines. For coffee lovers, NØSH CAFÉ brings together three of the country’s best-loved coffee brands.
More Than a Place to Eat
Time Out Market Cape Town is not only about food. It also offers a lively drinks programme and a cultural line-up that keeps the space active throughout the week. The fully licensed market includes three bars serving cocktails, mocktails, local beers, wines and soft drinks.
Dry Dock Bar sits at the centre of the market and offers a wide range of premium drinks. Pumphouse Bar focuses on craft beer, with multiple taps dedicated to local artisanal brews. Studio Bar, located on the mezzanine in Time Out Studio, adds a cocktail-led experience within the market’s cultural event space.
The venue also hosts a curated programme of cultural activations, weekly events and live performances, creating a space where Cape Town’s food scene and cultural scene meet naturally.
Seasonal Highlights at the Waterfront
Throughout the year, the market introduces seasonal dishes and special programming that highlight the city’s creative energy. Summer in particular brings new flavours, festive celebrations and major social moments, including end-of-year events and live entertainment.
