Cape Town is an attractive study destination and a great place to live. The city offers top quality universities, social activities, multi-cultural student communities, affordable housing and access to international employers.

Home to Africa’s foremost academic institution, the University of Cape Town (UCT), the city boasts two world-renowned business schools and three leading universities. Cape Town also has some of the world’s best and most affordable English language schools.

Cape Town has well-developed infrastructure, a cosmopolitan population and offers a high quality of life. The city’s most striking feature is its natural beauty. Table Mountain provides a dramatic backdrop to the city. In 2014, Cape Town became the first African city to take on the title of World Design Capital, in recognition of its blend of heritage, innovation, diversity and creative talent. The region also offers beaches, surfing, wildlife reserves, and vineyards all within easy reach, as well as plenty of cultural opportunities and adventure activities.

Some of Africa’s top film, media and fashions schools are also found in the city.

The school year generally runs from mid-January or February to November or early December and is divided into three or four terms. Depending on the institution, holidays usually take place in April; between June and August; September; and a longer summer holiday in December.
