Small, medium & micro-sized enterprises (SMMES)

The City has prioritised entrepreneurship and the support of Small, Medium and Micro-sized Enterprises (SMMEs) to help grow Cape Town’s economy.

The business hub

The Business Hub team (our Small Business Support office) provides support to small businesses in Cape Town. They promote entrepreneurship and assist with putting businesses in contact with support organisations, including investors and/or entrepreneurship programmes. The office provides practical advice on starting a business and the requirements and legalities involved, and help you find support to help grow your business.

The City does not provide start-up funding but we provide guidance as part of our Business Hub Service.

The finfind website developed by National Government helps to investigate the various possibilities for finance. It is an online, easy-to-use one stop platform for SME access to finance. Finfind links entrepreneurs with funds that match their specific needs from a database of over 200 lenders and more than 350 finance options.
